La notte degli Oscar è stata, come da pronostico, la notte di «The Artist», di Michel Hazanavicius . E  per la seconda volta nella storia del premio, un film “muto” ha vinto l’Oscar per il miglior film.

Il  protagonista di «The Artist» , Jean Dujardin, ha trionfato come miglior attore. La sua interpretazione di Georges Valentin, divo del cinema muto caduto in disgrazia con l’avvento del sonoro, è stata preferita dall’Academy a quella dell’altro favorito della vigilia, George Clooney di «Paradiso amaro», per il quale mi spiace molto. «The Artist» ha vinto in totale cinque statuette: film, regia, attore protagonista, colonna sonora e costumi.

L’unica vera sorpresa della premiazione, condotta per la nona volta da Billy Crystal, è stata la vittoria di Meryl Streep, al suo terzo Oscar, il primo in 29 anni. I pronostici davano favorita Viola Davis, protagonista di «The Help».

Pronostici rispettati, invece, per i non protagonisti: Christopher Plummer per «Beginners», cha a 82 anni è diventato il vincitore più anziano nella storia degli Academy Awards, e Octavia Spencer, l’impertinente cameriera Minny di «The Help».

Come «The Artist», anche «Hugo Cabret», il primo film in 3D di Martin Scorsese, ha vinto cinque Oscar: fotografia, suono, effetti sonori, effetti visivi e direzione artistica, curata dai nostri Dante Ferretti e Francesca Lo Schiavo, al loro terzo Oscar.

«Midnight in Paris» di Woody Allen ha vinto per la sceneggiatura originale, e mi spiace che gli  abbiano soffiato quello per il miglior regista, «Paradiso amaro» di Alexander Payne per l’adattamento, «Millennium – Uomini che odiano le donne» per il montaggio.

Purtroppo i francesi hanno conquistato hollywood…
